Recipe for a Healthy winter drink: Wild Honey with Ginger

Winter months are here and what better partner than a cup of warm drink! A cup of tea that helps keep you warm and also soothes your throat while you curl up with a blanket to be cozy.

When the weather gets cold, we all need an energy drink that protects us from cold and infectious diseases. Every family has their own special recipe for a warm winter drink. And almost all of these recipes contain honey. The other ingredients generally used together with honey are ginger and lime.

A tea made with natural honey with ginger and lime!

  1. 2 cups water
  2. 3-4 teaspoons of natural honey
  3. 1 inch fresh peeled ginger
  4. Half a lemon (juice or sliced)
  5. 1 inch cinnamon stick (optional)
  6. 3-4 Peppercorns



Make juliennes of the fresh ginger, keep it aside. Slice fresh lime or squeeze the juice of fresh lime, keep it in a small bowl.



Heat the water; don’t boil it if you are not adding the spices. If you are adding spices like cinnamon orpeppercorns add them to the water while boiling. You can either add one spice or both.

Water needs to be around 50 degrees or less while you are adding honey to it. As the vitamins and minerals that honey naturally contain may not be to their optimal levels at temperatures above 50 degrees.
Therefore, if we boil the water when we are adding spices for flavours to mix, we should wait for the water to cool down a bit.
